Michael Holtermann

I hope everyone had a revitalizing summer. At Holtermann Design we rarely take long vacations, and speaking for myself, a vacation often gets combined with some amount of fun work.

Late June I had the pleasure of visiting Japan for a week with my long-term friend, copywriter, and editor Kenneth Kiesnoski, who is Destinations Editor at Travel Weekly magazine. I brought back more than 600 video clips that with time will be edited and posted online.

This fall has events and functions for anyone's taste and liking lined up, in New York and abroad. I'm not going to spill all the beans yet, but what I want to say is that it's a joy to collaborate on large art projects with great artists.

Gamboro'oh Nippon!

Or, rather, the Japanese hiragana characters representing it – that translates as both "cheer up, Japan" and "move forward, Japan" were plastered all over Tokyo during our visit there in late June. We also had the joy of exploring Kyoto, a short trip from Tokyo on Shinkansen bullet trains.

Visit our blog to see more photos and find links to Kenneth Kiesnoski's three travel dispatches (Japan - Power Crunch, Japan - Kyoto Charm, Japan - Rebuilding Tourism) and feature article, Japan Eager to Welcome Back Visitors from this magnificent trip.

Outside magazine ad Outside magazine
Awarded by Experts, Rewarded by Tourists
Innovation Norway launched a new campaign showing how people interact with the justly famous natural beauty of the Norway. Emphasizing that one need not be super-fit to experience Norway, advertising photos show people interacting with nature, whether to gain new energy, spend time together, learn something new, or seek peace and tranquillity.

Many places in Norway are constantly receiving international awards and positive publicity in respected foreign media. These "experts" comments are combined with personal comments from tourists who have already been there. These two viewpoints bounce off one another, expressing the same idea from different viewpoints.

Holtermann Design produced the first of these new campaign ads for the October issue of Outside magazine.

Finnish American Chamber of Commerce NY
August E-news

FACC NY's August edition of its quarterly e-news is out. Holtermann Design extends a warm welcome to new Chamber President Michael Student who recently took over from long-term President Neal Beaton.

As always, Kerstin Nordin does an amazing job of collecting and editing material for the FACC News – gathering news on members from various U.S. chapters, cultural and chapter events, as well as news from Finland.

FACC has active programs promoting participation for a wide range of individuals, small businesses, as well as for established corporations. For example, FACC hosts a number of Young Associates events.

Ptown Massage + Bodywork Flyers
Ptown Massage + Bodywork is reaching out to the fitness oriented demographic which is well represented in Provincetown. New flyers depict very fit men and women – a friendly and not over-the top fitness.

In the works too are t-shirts. Produced last year as well, T-shirts with the Ptown Massage logo heart with its radiant burst on the front proved to be very popular. People have been clamoring for these shirts again. This time around the heart will be bigger on the front and there will be the newly developed Ptown Massage + Bodywork logo on the back.

Summer in the City – New York City, That Is!
Rick Shupper has blogged a series of photographs of New York City from this summer. New York offers innumerable opportunities to photograph interesting people, places, and things. But perhaps the summer is the time New York is at its most outgoing. Perhaps.
